ARTIST-TEACHER OF PIANO (PART-TIME) (Posted November 3, 2011)
The Longy School of Music is seeking applications to fill an artist-teacher of piano position. Candidates should have the interest and demonstrated ability to recruit and develop an active studio in the school’s Conservatory (undergraduate and graduate programs). The successful candidate will be expected to teach piano performance majors as well as secondary piano students.

PRODUCTION AND RECORDING SERVICES MANAGER (Posted October 2011)
The Longy School of Music seeks an enthusiastic and motivated professional who can oversee all production and technical aspects of Longy’s concerts and events. This is a full-time position, requiring frequent evening and weekend work. This position reports to the Facilities Manager.
Successful applicants will have significant stage management and production experience, working knowledge of PA/audio and lighting systems, and will have acted in managerial and supervisory roles.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Manage daily schedule of the school’s performance spaces, including set up and striking of events
Liaise with Longy faculty, staff, students, renters and other performers regarding scheduling, production and recording needs.
Hire, train, schedule and supervise all Concert Office staff, including production assistants, recording assistants, stage managers, stage hands, house manager, ushers and box office staff.
Assist in developing school’s overall concert and events schedule by coordinating Departmental booking and scheduling student and faculty recitals and other events; produce and distribute concert and event schedule.
Manage audio and video recording: develop and communicate recording guidelines; record performances, recording sessions, and auditions; master recordings through editing and/or dubbing; maintain recording archive.
Provide or arrange for sound reinforcement as needed.
Maintain Hall equipment; order supplies as necessary; schedule outside contractors including sound and lighting technicians.
Establish tuning schedule for Pickman Hall pianos.
Lead production meetings for large events as necessary.
Review and negotiate technical riders/contracts for outside organizations and guest artists.
Support the production of various Concert Series by: (1) meeting with Dean/Artistic Director to plan Faculty Artist Recitals and Debut Series; (2) collecting program, biographical, and production information from in-house and guest artists; and (3) serving as liaison between publicity, advancement, and other offices around event
Work closely with the Office of Communications to: (1) meet with Dean/Artistic Director to plan concert series; (2) proofread monthly concert calendar and concert-related materials; and (3) supervise the overall Concert Hall schedule, meeting with Dean/Directors to develop scheduling strategy/priorities each year
Visit conservatory classrooms multiple times per year to teach students how to video themselves, edit it, and put it online
Produces programs for all student and faculty concerts and recitals. Responsible for soliciting program content, bio info, enforcing deadlines, etc. Responsible for printing programs.
Project manages/plans concert programs for major concert series including G-S, Unique Voices, SeptemberFest, and LCO. Responsible for soliciting program content, program notes, bios, etc. Works in conjunction with conservatory dean. Manage relationship with performers, confirming day-of concert details with them, etc.
Updates phone line with current concert information
Produces tickets for concerts
Provide additional administrative and logistical support for Concert Office operations as needed.
Qualifications
BA with minimum of 3 years of stage management and production experience
Excellent attention to detail, well organized, self-motivated
Ability to work independently
Excellent customer service skills and ability to work with a wide range of both internal and external constituents
Must be fluent in ProTools LE 8 or later, Logic Studio, and Microsoft Office and have working knowledge of Final Cut Studio.
