The Longy School of Music
of Bard College seeks a Jazz Piano
Teacher for the Community Programs
Division. Special consideration will
be given to those who are committed
to building a strong studio at Longy,
have a passion for working with young
beginners, and who have innovative
ideas around how to engage adolescent
and adult beginners. The candidate
should be comfortable teaching private
and group lessons and should also
have experience teaching standard
classical repertoire in addition to
jazz and pop/rock music.

QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates for the position must have
a well-established and broadly recognized
record of accomplishment as a Jazz
Piano Teacher, with excellent organizational,
communication, and interpersonal skills;
and a demonstrable ability to promote
a productive and positive climate
among students, faculty and staff.
The candidate must be willing to take
part in Piano Department and Community
Programs meetings and events. Candidates
should possess a strong connection
to Longy’s mission to prepare musicians
to make a difference in the world.
An advanced degree or demonstrated
equivalent is required.

The Longy School of Music
of Bard College is seeking a Fiddle/Jazz
Strings Teacher to join the Community
Program Faculty. Candidates should
have a passion for working with students
of all ages and abilities and experience
teaching world, jazz, folk, and classical
music in both private and small group
lessons. The candidate will have innovative
ideas around how to recruit new players
to the school and how to help those
new to music build musicianship and
performance skills through their lessons.
Candidates should also have experience
coaching classically trained students
in fiddle and jazz techniques.
