COMMUNITY PROGRAMS MANAGER:  This full-time position in the Community Programs at the Longy School of Music of Bard College will manage all aspects of the Community Program’s organization and day-to-day functioning. By working closely with the Director of Community Programs, the Manager will assist in all operational aspects of the department including all on-site programming as well as reaching out to create programs in the community to serve and fulfill our mission of preparing musicians to make a difference in the world. Ability to work on Saturdays is a must.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Operations
• Coordinate the day-to-day running of the program including correspondence, maintaining files, and working with database in correspondence with the Community Programs Registrar.
• Manage and oversee Saturday daily activities, including answering questions from faculty, students, and visitors.
• Supervise and coordinate work of student employees.
• Ensure smooth functioning of the Community Programs.
• Conduct student and faculty evaluations.

Communication
• Collaborating with Director of Community Programs and the communications department to market and advertise community programs effectively
• Respond to inquiries and concerns from parents, students, faculty, and other constituents.
• Provide administrative support for various divisional activities, including production and management of monthly newsletters for faculty and students/parents, handbooks, flyers, and department mailings
• Coordinate the maintenance of the Preparatory and Continuing Studies portions of the Longy School of Music of Bard College website.

Concerts and Events
• Manage and oversee production of all Community Programs recitals, which includes hosting concerts, production of concert program, coordination of rehearsals with accompanist and communication to students and faculty as needed.
• Event coordination and scheduling (and publication which includes Open House, Petting Zoos, Family Series Concerts, Evaluations, Auditions, workshops, outreach events/concerts, community performances, etc).

Program Development
• Serve as administrative coordinator for all of Longy’s summer programs.
• Collaborate with Director of Community Programs, develop and implement new programs as needed.
• Assist Director in outreach initiatives with community organizations and businesses to create strategic partnerships for programs and initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:
 Position requires a Bachelor’s degree and three to five years of experience working in a community music program with management experience.  All applicants must be available to work Saturdays, as well as,  occasional evenings and Sundays as needed throughout the year.

• Music background preferred or experience in community music school
• Strong computer skills
